Rubbish collection without the hassle
Not every job needs a skip. A skip can mean a council permit if it sits on the road, a wait for delivery and collection, and doing all the lifting yourself. With a rubbish collection, we do the carrying and loading, and everything goes when we do.
It's a practical option for one-off clear-outs, after building work, when you're moving, or when you simply have more than your bin collections can handle.
What we can take
Household rubbish
Bagged waste, old toys, broken household items, boxes and packaging, carpets and rugs, old curtains, kitchenware and general clutter from cupboards and spare rooms.
Garden waste
Hedge and tree cuttings, grass, leaves, old turf, broken garden furniture, plant pots and rotten fence panels. If you've been tackling an overgrown garden, we can take the green waste along with anything else that has built up outside.
DIY and renovation waste
Old kitchen units, bathroom suites, doors, skirting boards, timber, plasterboard offcuts and the packaging from new fittings. Let us know roughly how much there is, particularly heavier materials such as rubble, so we can plan the load.
Items that need special handling
Some everyday items can't simply go in with general rubbish:
- Fridges and freezers contain refrigerant gases and insulating foam that have to be dealt with at specialist facilities.
- TVs, monitors and other electricals count as waste electrical equipment and must be recycled separately.
- Mattresses are bulky and made from mixed materials, so they're handled separately from general waste.
- Sofas and armchairs can contain chemicals in their foam and fabric, so unwanted upholstered seating has to be disposed of in a specific way. There's more on this on our furniture removal page.
Please mention any of these when you ask for a quote so we can plan for them.
What we can't take
We never accept hazardous waste. That includes asbestos, which can be found in some older garage roofs, floor tiles, textured ceilings and pipe lagging. If you think something might contain asbestos, please don't break it up or move it. We'd advise using a specialist asbestos contractor, and the Health and Safety Executive's asbestos guidance is a good place to start.
We also can't take gas bottles, chemicals, solvents, clinical waste or anything else that's hazardous. If you're unsure about something, just ask and we'll point you in the right direction.
Where your rubbish goes
We sort each load, so items that can be reused are donated where possible, materials such as metal, wood, cardboard and green waste are recycled where possible, and the rest goes to licensed facilities. Before handing waste to anyone, it's worth checking they're allowed to carry it. Householders have a duty of care for their rubbish, and fly-tipped waste can be traced back to where it came from.
Getting ready
- Gather rubbish in one place if you can, such as a driveway or garage, but don't worry if it's spread around.
- Keep anything you want to hold on to well away from the pile.
- Check bags for things that shouldn't be there, such as batteries or aerosols.
- Tell us about access, steps or a long carry from the road.
If it's mainly a cluttered garage or shed, our page on garage and shed clearance explains more. Landlords between lets may prefer our end of tenancy service.
Covering Northallerton and the surrounding area
We collect rubbish across Northallerton and nearby towns and villages, including Thirsk, Bedale, Richmond and Stokesley, out towards Great Ayton and the edge of the North York Moors. Send us a few photos of what needs to go and we'll come back to you with a free, no-obligation quote.
